On Sunday, August 16, Crypto Mondays Philly hosted our first Brunch’N Blocks, kicking off a new quarterly gathering designed to bring the community together in a more relaxed setting. Instead of presentations and a formal agenda, the idea was simple: grab some bagels, coffee, and fruit, pull up a chair, and see where the conversation takes us. The turnout was great, and it didn’t take long for discussions to start flowing.
And flow they did. Conversations moved from blockchain and crypto to quantum computing and the potential implications of “Q-Day.” We also explored randomness in computing, including the surprisingly low-tech idea of using physical dice rolls as a source of entropy for generating truly random values and strengthening security. From there, the discussion shifted into crypto taxation, regulation, and the CLARITY Act, including differing opinions on whether clearer regulatory rules could help propel the industry forward or introduce pressures that could weigh on the market.
That range of topics is exactly what Brunch’N Blocks was meant to encourage. There was no predetermined direction the conversation needed to take. Someone could introduce an idea, someone else could challenge it or build on it, and suddenly the table was exploring an entirely different corner of technology, markets, policy, or crypto.
More importantly, new connections were made, friendships were formed, and knowledge was exchanged. Our first Brunch’N Blocks showed that sometimes the best conversations happen without a stage or presentation—just interesting people sitting around a table sharing what they know.
Thanks to everyone who joined us for the first one. We’re looking forward to continuing Brunch’N Blocks as a quarterly Crypto Mondays Philly tradition and seeing where the conversation takes us next.
